What is your favorite late-night snack?

I haven't been here in ages! And after perusing some old entries for a little while, I realized I have missed this amusement! I also want to get the words flowing for some article I may or may not be trying to research and write. So, what better way to do that than with a Writer's Block?

It would be impossible to name a favourite midnight snack. Okay, I can say that the most terribly tasty three-hours-past-midnight snack I've had were curly fries in their delicious sodium rich oil soaked greatness. Fries are probably the one absolutely-ruled-out-of-the-diet food of every health nut that I refuse to give up. It's because fries encapsulate childhood for me! The years of torment for my parents when I did not deign to eat anything else with the exception of cookies, apples and instant noodles? There are too many memories associated with french fries for me to give them up: an identity crisis would ensue if I were to try.

But I digress. We were talking about guilty goodies consumed during the wee hours of the night. Um, chocolate. At it's absolute worse when I had a bunch of those deliciously cheap Halloween round chocolates by my bed (never again for the sake of my health). I like raisin bread. I like cereal. And if there are baked goods in the house they would definitely be zipped up too.

Actually, the foods that are NOT on the list are rather interesting. No ice cream or chips or heavy meat. Nope. Oh, I'll tell you what I once ate late at night which I will never, ever do again as it was agony. One night back in the fall I was finishing a microbiology lab report that left me, in my inability to produce good work unless pressured, working very late indeed. In an attempt to reach the heights of mental clarity and capability with caffeine, I downed (get ready for it) one ginger ale, a Teh Tarik, and another Teh Tarik with impressive rapidity. You see, I have very little experience with caffeine and when I didn't feel any more alert after the ginger ale, I mistakenly thought it was because I needed more. Actually, even after all that I didn't feel any more awake just utterly sick to my stomach. Never. again.

I wish I didn't like to eat late as much as I do. It's been said every where that the secret of weight loss is not snacking late! Some people don't eat past 8! What?! That's crazy to me! I wish I could practice the same restraint but not eating past 10 is a stretch for me already. That's my goal, and I had some success at it.

But I still don't regret those curly fries.

You know when you see something that is completely MIND BLASTING and mesmerizing, and then it's over and all you can think is "MOAR" ? Those are my feelings regarding this music video by Big Bang called Tell Me Goodbye. I had heard Tae-yang's Wedding Dress before, and a couple of his other songs, as well as GD's HeartBreaker, but besides that I wasn't a really big fan of Big Bang. This video has officially converted me to a state of absolutely love. Every moment of the video is sheer beauty, not to mention I have a penchant for period pieces. The video captures the tone of the song (although I can't say anything for the lyrics; it's a pity I can't understand) But the visuals themselves are jaw-dropping.

Favourite moments:

1) Taeyang. I can watch Tae Yang STAND and be enraptured. Better yet, when he MOVES. or when he plays the piano.
2) In the rain. Sorry, I don't know your name! But it's stunning and he's got the best voice, in my opinion.
3) Top with glasses smoking while talking on the phone. The glasses flatter him, and that phone is exquisite!

**Watch HD on FULL SCREEN to do the cinematographer justice!

****EDIT: I was SO right. Although they are Korean, they ARE singing in japanese in this video. At first I dismissed it, thinking that there are some words that sound similar between the two languages. But then the 'kimis' and 'bokus' and 'hikaris' and 'yasashisas' and 'janais' were lining up with the english translation...therefore (i can't do the shorthand for 'therefore' that we always use in math class! haha) THEY'RE SINGING IN JAPANESE! Bonus points from Steffi!

Fanfiction: Do you love it or hate it, or are you totally indifferent? Why?

This is just a response to the title of this writer's block...

SHELDON AND PENNY 4EVER AND ALWAYS!!!!!

but, in regards to the actual question, I'm indifferent to fanfiction. I don't hate it, I don't love it, but for the people who get kicks out of writing it, enjoy yourself :)

Do you have a lucky or unlucky piece of clothing? If you have a lucky garment, when do you wear it and what sort of luck has it brought you? If you have an unlucky piece of clothing, why do you keep it? Do you ever wear it just to see what happens?

I had a lucky hair pin. In fact, two lucky hair pins. They were identical: white with blue heart shaped polkadots, about an inch and a half long. I write in past tense b/c I realized a week ago that they were not where I thought I kept them.

So, yes, I haven't worn them for a while. But I was obsessed with them in the 8th grade. I made sure I put them on, one on each side of my head, before writing any test or doing a presentation. Why? Because these hairpins made me feel smarter. You see, grade 8 was the year I read Voices of a Distant Star at Chapters. The story of love that transcends space and time deeply touched me, and my friend bought the book for me for Christmas afterwards so I read it as many times as I wanted. Mikako, one of the main characters, was incredibly sweet and kind and very very smart. Her hairpins were especially significant in the story. So wearing hairpins like hers made me feel like her, a young girl intelligent enough to be chosen to serve in a special mission on Mars investigating alien existence. That is very smart.

The hair clips did work to some extent. Mostly, they boosted my confidence which led to the 'luck' afterwards. I placed 1st in the science fair and qualified for the final rounds of speeches in my grades with them in my hair. But since then I've fallen out of habit of wearing them. And I think I have still been doing decently well.

If a catastrophe struck and you had to leave your home in a hurry (and never return), what items would you grab in your last ten minutes, and why?

I have actually thought about these types of situations. Fire, tornado, earthquake, tsunami...which precious items will I take in my too-short arms????? The answer is easy peasy: photo albums! I'll clear my shelf of albums, run to my dad's room where the childhood pictures are kept, then down to the rec room to pick up the big fat albums. In fact, I'll actually carry a box and pile as much as I can in. If I have extra time, then I'll grab my diaries, as well as a few bottles of water to survive the next few days.
